  • joka yhdistää lietteen epäpuhtaudet saaden ne laskeutumaan altaan pohjalle. Osa lietteestä palautetaan takaisin kiertoon ilmastusaltaaseen
  • jotta mikrobien määrä olisi riittävä
  • ja osa poistetaan jatkokäsittelyyn
  • jotta lietteen määrä pysyy vakiona. Puhdistettu vesi johdetaan vesistöihin. Aktiivilieteprosessin ongelma on haastava vedenpoisto
  • eli veden erottaminen aktiivilietteestä on vaikeaa. Flokkulantteina käytetään öljypohjaisia synteettisiä polymeerejä. Öljypohjaisten flokkulanttien käyttö vedenpuhdistuksessa ei ole kestävän kehityksen mukaista toimintaa
  • vaan toivottavaa olisi käyttää uusiutuvista luonnonmateriaaleista valmistettuja flokkulantteja
  • kuten nanoselluloosaa. Ympäristöystävällisesti valmistetut nanoselluloosapohjaiset materiaalit ovat myös öljypohjaisia materiaaleja tehokkaampia ja halvempia valmistaa. Työn tavoitteena oli tutkia
  • voidaanko nanoselluloosa flokkulanteilla korvata kationisen öljypohjaisen flokkulantin käyttöä biolietteiden vedenpoistossa. Tutkimus suoritettiin SVI kokeilla vertaamalla nanoselluloosan vaikutusta lietteen laskeutumiseen ferrillä ja kaupallisella referenssipolymeerillä saatuihin tuloksiin sekä LumiFuge laitteistolla
  • jolla selvitettiin lietteen valonläpäisykykyä ja paisuntaa sekä lietekakkujen korkeuksia. Tutkittava liete haettiin Stora Enson Oulun tehtaalta. Tuloksista nähtiin
  • että liete laskeutui hyvin vain referenssipolymeerillä. Nanoselluloosaa käyttämällä ei päästy lähelle polymeerillä saatuihin tuloksiin. Flocculation
